Really? Is that when I was on a public bus just trying to get home from a long day at uni as a non-traditional first generation student you went out of your way to target me with your bullshit? Went out of our way to make eye contact with me as i staring at the ground? You sure you're aware of your privilege as a white woman? Gave that speech about how you're majoring in philosophy and marketing IIRC to work for Green Peace someday. My problem was that I didn't have a dream, and I said I was just trying to survive. Your project was just writing some paper or some shit about how Lululemon and limited edition products are a conspiracy theory to rob the common person.

Then I showed you how I wrote Descartes' Meditations in Prolog. Explained how I got my GED and got there by using programming and video game design skills. Just like everyone else on campus though, you concluded I hadn't worked hard enough because I worked on the warehouse floor at Amazon or the factory floor in the automotive. Racism apparently doesn't exist and neither the power of networking and having rich/connnected parents. After all, how many people realistically expect to work with a big name organization like Green Peace? A lot of the classmates my professors would ask me to help as an unpaid TA didn't expect to go anywhere. Some of them even told me how the department had really low employment rates and was avoided by employers.

Suppose I should've charged to be a TA though right? That's probably my problem. Everything we do is supposed as optimized as a boxer planning for a 10-12 round war. Pretty cool when you can just wake up one day and decide you're gonna do something with your life. As long as you tell people you're aware you're privileged even though if your actions don't show any sort of self reflection, that's good enough right? Nah, not really.

My right shoulder is still fucked up from that day I almost fell out the door and scared everyone on the bus. I had to stand up and my shoulder nearly gave out after some long shifts at Amazon. While trying to pursue a major that I knew because of the path I took to get my GED, and because I had no contacts in the end it didn't matter. I'm self employed in a shitty industry. Because that's the best I can do.

But that speech you bravely gave me on a bus is totally justified because you're aware of your privilege. Even though you clearly aren't and aren't aware that Potawatomis are among the lowest earners across the board in the USA. They sit below white women FWIW, not that white women give a fuck. In fact, they've told me the way I communicate the point isn't palatable to them. I think the issue is the truth though, not the words.
